Hi,

Me and my student group team need to design a bioethanol plant. The software available to us right now are MATLAB, HYSYS and Ms Excel.

We discovered that some of the components we are required to work with are not found in HYSYS. There is glucose but there is no cellulose, nor is there pentose (xylose), and many other things.

Is there something we need to do to 'create' this components and what other alternatives are available to us?

When speaking about pure compounds, you could use Hypo Manager within HYSYS' simulation basis and define the component based on molecular weight, normal boiling point, and liquid density.

So I've started working with the Hypo Manager.

There is a section that requires you to specify the UNIFAC structure. I'm unable to do this for polymers such as cellulose, hemicellulose and for ring compounds like glucose and pentose. Would it affect anything if I had left this portion out?

How much do you actually need to specify? I noticed that the hypo manager gives you a lot of liberty for a lot of things.
