Im trying to learn how to use the cause and effect matrix but the hysys tutorials are very good (weird huh?) So if someone could tell me how to configure one on hysys for example it could be to something like this:

case A : there are 2 tanks, when the first tank is filled at 90%, close the valve from tank A and open the valve from tank B to fill it

or

case B : there are 2 pumps (main pump and back-up pump), the main pump trips (loose his power or any other) so the back-up pump start-up.

I supose that in case A the matrix would be something like:

tank A lvl >=90% --> close valve A
tank B lvl >=90% --> open valve B

and for the case B:

pump A power = 0 HP --> start-up pump B power (or set pump B power at "X" HP)

If someone could help me on this I could figure my way out to bigger systems.

Thank you very much.

Ive been working on this and I managed to configure the cause for a tank and to declare the trip when the level of the tank is over 85% and lower 20%, now I have to check how to configure the effects and what is the meaning of Sw Or reset switch and etc
