I am looking at a system with natural gas coming into an offshore platform at high pressure >1000 psig. There are no condensates / liquid hydrocarbons. The produced water is to be sent to a closed drain and I expect it to have small amounts of dissolved gas. How is this produced water to be treated before being discharged offboard ( typical oil skimmers etc might not be required as there is no oil coming into the platform). How is the gas disposed ?

Can any one show a typical sketch for this system (ie produced water treatment when there is no oil but only dissolved gases).

Dissolved hydrocarbon gases or worse dissolved H2S in produced water needs to be handled very carefully and you require seal-pots or U-shaped siphons to prevent their migration and accumulation on the offshore decks.

I had prepared a standard on "Drain Systems" for an offshore O&G company in the middle-east which also had a lot of illustrations related to off-shore platform drain systems. I am attaching a sketch related to seal-pot and a U-shaped siphon.

Hope this helps.
