Hello all:

I thought that explaining how to use BB code in formatting messages here might be helpful. Below are some of the tags used in BB code:

CODE
[b]Hello[/b] ... [i]Hello[/i] ... [u]Hello[/u] ... [b][i][u]Hello[/u][/i][/b]
results in: Hello ... Hello ... Hello ... Hello

CODE
X[sub]a[/sub] ... X[sup]a[/sup] ... Na[sub]2[/sub]SO[sub]4[/sub] ... 10[sup]12[/sup]
results in: Xa ... Xa ... Na2SO4 ... 1012

CODE
[URL][b][u]www.cheresources.com[/u][/b][/URL]
results in: printing the clickable hyperlink http://www.cheresources.com <== put your cursor on this and you will see that it is a hyperlink

CODE
Typing &#XXX; in the message posting box and being sure to include the semi-colon
results in:
-- Getting Δ, the Greek letter delta, if you use 916 as the XXX
-- Getting ρ, the Greek letter rho, if you use 961 as the XXX
-- Getting Σ, the Greek letter sigma, if you use 931 as the XXX

And here is how to use some special characters in your postings:

To type the degree sign °, make sure that your keyboard Num Lock is enabled and using the number pad on the right hand side of your keyboard: press and hold down the Alt Key while you press the numbers 0176. Then release the Alt Key and the degree sign ° will appear.

To type the micron sign µ (the Greek letter mu), hold down the ALT Key while you press the numbers 0181 and then release the Alt key.

To type ±, hold down the ALT Key while you press the numbers 0177 and then release the Alt key.

To type ÷, hold down the ALT Key while you press the numbers 0247 and then release the Alt key.

To type ×, hold down the ALT Key while you press the numbers 0215 and then release the Alt key.

To type ∞, hold down the ALT Key while you press the numbers 236 and then release the Alt key.

To type ≥, hold down the ALT Key while you press the numbers 242 and then release the Alt key.

To type ≤, hold down the ALT Key while you press the numbers 243 and then release the Alt key.

If anyone knows of other ALT key sequences for printing other special characters, please let me know and I will add them to this posting ... in, particular I would like to know how to print a better version of the Greek letter pi.

Hoping you all find this helpful
