Can someone help me to identify what are the causes of high vibration in pump? And how to address them?

Hi! We have tried to commissioned the spare pump and same problem arises - high vibration in the pump. So, it is proven that there is no problem with its mechanical parts. The pressure of the vessel upstream the pump is at its operating pressure. However, at the pump suction it is 100 KPag higher than the drum's pressure. I think this is already the reason why there is vibration in the pump. But, do you have any idea for the possible reasons of high suction pressure considering that the drum's pressure is at its operating pressure only?

Hi ,
A sketch ( isometric) with data sheet of the pump will be of great help .

Hi,

I would think of the following two possibilities for this high pressure, but further details such as P&ID, actual pressure profile of the suction / discharge lines would be helpful:

1. Increase in pump operating pressure can be because of static head between vessel bottom to pump suction nozzle. Earlier in absence of vibration this parameter would have been overlooked, Hope that the pressure instrument is not faulty, because I have had experience of being deceived by a faulty temperature instrument.

2. Is there an increase in density of the fluid being pumped. This can also lead to higher suction pressure due to "static head".

Regards,
