Please what range should we specify for a flow switch High located downstream the psv discharge to indicate the psv opening? How should we specify the flowrate ?
Thank you,

Hello everyone,

Hi,
PSV lift detector is normally as an option which might be offered by PSV vendors. This can be as a flow switch indicates the flow through the PSV discharge line. The relevant estimated range can be between the flow of the scenario with lowest value and the flow of the scenario with higher value.
An alternative to the flow switch is the sound sensor would be activated by relieving flow especially in gas/vapor relieving....

Hi, thanks for the feedback. In my case, the flow switch will be supplied independently...I'm confused about the lowest value, this could be any value or just the lowest possible load ? I found in a chat group that UOP specifies 10% of the max relief load as standard practice for flow switches in PSV discharge line
Hi,
The 10% of the max relief load is logical as lowest value...

Check if such options may become more cheap and robust in your case

thank you ... we've specified at first conventional PSV with positioner, same vendor told us to change the type of the psv to balanced if we want to keep the positioner (it was something related to corrosion not the back pressure, I'll check with my team about this topic and get back to you)
