Hi Experts,

I have very basic question, whether P&ID stands for Process and intrumentaion diagram or Piping and instrumentaion diagram. Do we have any standard or code or book which will clarify this.

Apology for asking very basic question.

Regards,

Santosh

Hey Santosh,

I can never forget this, i was asked the same in my job interview. It is "Piping and Instrumentation Diagram". A simple google search might have given you the answer.

Santosh,

You can refer Coulson & Richardson Vol 6 (Third Edition), chapter 5 for more details.

Santosh,

A P&ID is "Piping and Instrumentation Diagram" based on a specific "Process Flow Diagram"...

Thansk Ankit, Samayraj , I was looking for some book reference, yes google search is always first option for everyone, but got it from Perrys and now from RC-6 also.

Thanks Mr. Fallah for your specific answer.
