Any of you familiar with the rate equations by Xu and Froment on methane steam reforming and how they have derived it? There's no indication in their paper that it is an empirical equation but it doesn't quite look like a Langmuir-Hinshelwood Model.
The reaction schemes are shown below while the rate equations are shown in the attached:
CH4 + H2O <-> CO + 3 H2
CO + H2O <-> CO2 + H2
CH4 + 2 H2O <-> CO2 + 4 H2
Also, I would like to use this model to establish a process simulation (using HYSYS or PetroSim) for a down-fired reformer. However, I don't have the rate constants for the reverse reactions, would it still be possible to accurately model the system?
