At our plant we have instrument air produced from silica gel dryers. This is stored in bulk receiver from their it is distributed to various instrumentation loads like CV operation, bubbler level measurement etc. Though there are filters at compressor suction, filters at inlet and outlet of dryer each of 50 micron size, recently one of CV reamined open its positioner feedback nozzle dust was observed. We are being asked to implement periodic health assessment programme to ensure quality of compressed air. How should we go about it, what should be our focus area.

Please guide.

We measured particles by opening signal air tube at positioner end and found no particle above 5 micron but when we opened receiver tanks 1 to 2 kg iron rust was found.
