What is the best method for validating a mathematical model of a process from the following choices:
1) Compare the model results with the results of a laboratory scale experiment
2) Compare the model results with the results of a larger pilot scale experiment
3) Compare the model results with the results of an industrial scale unit
4) Compare the model results with the results of models made by other source-feeding the same value of input data, same design dimensions, same operating conditions
Based on ur experience, for which of the above choices in general, the model will show the largest and smallest deviation from actual results. How much % deviation is acceptable between model results and actual results, u may give an example that u may have dealt with?
Is Method no. 4 a good way to start with even if experimental results are available or must only be used when no experimental data is available ? I have seen Method no.4 used in articles from many chemical engineering journals.
