Hi,
I am designing a Secondary reformer unit in an ammonia production plant as a part of my final year design project.I have the following queries.I was able to get adequate data from different literature sources for the catalyst zone.I am stuck with the design of combustion zone as adequate data is not available.I need help on the following issues
1)What is the typical length of the burner in the combustion zone and also the flame length.(The total ammonia production desired is 1200 t/day).Is there any standard industrial convention which gives the ratio of combustion/catalyst zone height. Can you also suggest me on the sources that I could look into for this.
2)What are the most common refractory materials used in the secondary reformer and what are the typical thickness.(The temperature in my combustion zone is about 1300 C).What factors are involved in selecting the refractory.
I would be really thankful if somebody can help
