I want to calculate the required filtration area for a two stages filter separator that is supposed to separate solid and liquid from gas . As you know this surface calculate by this equation:Af=Q/vf
My question is about Vf. How dose it calculate?in Shell manual I found this recommendation:
To ensure a proper coalescing process the gas velocity into the filter part of the candles,vG,cf, should not be too high. Recommended upper limit is 0.10 m/s (vG,cf is based on outer candle surface).
But the filter separators that were designed in our company in the past are based on this velocity Vf= ( 0.153 * g ^ 0.71 * D ^ 1.14 * ( Ds * Dg ) ^ 0.7578) / (Dg ^ 0.29 * Vg ^ 0.43)
(intermediate law).this velocity is usually smaller than 0.1 m/s results more filteration area
What should I do? Which equation can be suitable for fluid velocity through filter elements?
cheers
