Hi everybody!
I need to know the average market price of an industrial refrigerant (for a condenser on the top of a distillation column).
I guess I could use some compounds like hydrofluorocarbons, chlorofluorocarbons (R-12, R-125, R-32, etc.); the temperature of the distillate is 270 K.
Help me please!
Thanks

Why do you want to use a refrigerated coolant in your condenser? What is the boiling point of the overhead distillate at the overhead pressure? If that boiling point is above about 120 degrees F (49 degrees C), then you could probably use either cooling water or air cooling.

The price will depend on the market and availability of the product you need. Identify the refrigerant you need, and then start making inquiries around to see where and at what price you can get it.
For 270K (-3 degC), Propane appears to be the cheapest and the simplest solution.
