Can we place pressure guage downstream of the discharge valve of Centrifugal pump?, if yes please explain?

Butt ,
1) A centrifugal pump should be started with discharge valve close and then progressively open . Should be enough to support your query.
2) Having the valve close and the Pressure gauge upstream in service you will know if the pump installed is the right one after the checking the pump curve ( Head @ no flow )during water test.

If your intention would be reading pump discharge pressure,it should be installed just after the discharge nozzle of the pump.

Dear,
Is it a practice as so far I haven't come across of placing a PG/PT point downstream of the discharge valve in case of a centrifugal pump.
