Hi all,

Can you please tell me exactly what is the auto ignition temperature of sulfur (vapor/liqud/ solid). While trying to search in internet I am getting different values like 232, 243, and 248-266. Please tell which one is correct.

HI Vishnu,

Depending on the purity of your sulfur your auto-ignition, smoke point, flash point, etc will vary.

Generally with a purity of 90-100% (elemental sulfur) your flash point will be in teh area of 207C, and the auto-ignition will be in the neighborhood of 248-266C.

Hope this helps.

Jason
