Hi,

I have recently read in a book the term "servomotor" for control valves without more description.

Do you know what exactly is a "servomotor"?...unless it is simply a synonym of "actuator"...?

Hi Sheiko,

Yes, you are right. A servo-motor is device used for producing physical movements of certain category of valves, and as such it can be classified as an actuator type.

Attached is an article describing (very general but quite informative) each type of actuator: motors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, solenoids etc.
