We are planning to source a Steam Evaporator (Kettle type reboiler) from China which is heated with HTM fluid. Operating Steam Pressure will be 2.0 Barg.(Specs: Chinese GB Code). I want to know can we install it in India without getting IBR certification?
All the GB codes available with us are in Chinese and it is hard to get it in English. Therefore the necessary documents to apply for IBR certification are not available.
I would also like to know above what steam pressure IBR certification is mandatory?

Vishal,
I should warn you that you are fishing in dangerous waters. Any pressure vessel without LEGIBLE and CORRECT documentation is a recipe for disaster. If god forbid any accident occurs and your company needs to furnish the documentation to the legal authorities and are unable to, your company can face serious criminal proceedings including jail terms to the company personnel who were responsible for the purchase and installation of the equipment.
You should insist on the manufacturer to provide you documentation in English which is recognized as a major language for technical and commercial dealings worldwide.
I am not familiar with IBR code but the code itself is available from various sources and most Indian mechanical engineers who have worked in the power generation sector would be familiar with it.
Regards,
Ankur.

Dear Sir,
Thank you. In fact we all are uncomfortable with this. We are almost decided to source all the pressure vessels from India and get it certified before taking into operation
