Hi !!!!
Perforated pipe distributor is a proven tower internal in packed columns. They are satisfactorily used when the liquid feed is under pressure. But,it creates problem of high pressure drop if pipe cross section and apertures cross section in toto are not nicely balanced.
In one such pipe distributor handling 50 m3/hr chilled water through 150mm diameter pipe & dripping through 7 mm diameter apertures 300 in numbers.By back calculation of system, it shows higher pressure drop in pipe distrbutor but actual calculation by orifice equation, there is negligible pressure drop. Why so?
Is there any different pressure drop calculation method for packed column distrbutor?
How to quantify pressure drop precisely.

May you guide me on above problem? cool.gif
