Dear all,

I am simulating a Pulverized Coal supercritical steam boiler for a thermal power plant.
I stuck-up at point, where I do not have enough information on supercritcal boiler pressure control.
As like in a sub-critical boiler, supercritical boiler does not have steam drum with liquid inventory. Then how the pressure of the generated steam is maintained?
Is it just by increasing the coal feed?

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Chinmaay,

In drum type units (Sub critical units), the steam flow rate is controlled by the fuel firing rate. Superheat
steam temperature is determined by the proper sizing of the superheater heat transfer surface and is controlled by spray water attemperation. In a once-through type boiler, the steam flow rate is established by the boiler feedwater pump, and the superheat steam temperature is controlled by the fuel firing rate.
All the case, the pressure is created by feed pump only.

BR,
SIVA
