Hi all,
Does any one know how to simulate a steam turbine, boiler and a gas turbine (combined cycle, including the gas turbine and a Heat Recovery Steam Generator) in either Hysys or Pro II? Both boiler and gas turbine firing fuel gas.
I would like to simulate a steam system that maximizes the use of fuel gas to produce steam and power, that's why I am looking for how to simulate the boiler and turbine system that I can specify the fuel gas firing.
Which unit operations should I simulate the boiler, steam turbine and gas turbine? In other words, what are the subsystems of the boiler, steam and combined cycle turbine?

Turbine as unit operation is readily available in Hysys and PRO/II, and should be used as such. Boiler can be modeled as common exchanger-heater, where external heat duty is equal to the heat supplied by the burning fuel. Anything missing?

Dear Kat,

By the time you posted this comment I was in hospital and could not reply you but here is your file. Only thing you need to access this file is to change its extension to .rar from .pdf and extract with winrar extractor (same as .zip). This is the simulation which I did 3 years back. All the necessary back up calculations are done in the spreadsheet. Hope it helps you.

Hi Padmakar,

Can you please check and upload the attached file again, because it seems could not be opened properly. I thought because my Hysys license expired so I could not open it but another guy, Vishnu, has the same problem opening the file.

The file works OK - just change the extension from PDF to RAR as explained by Padmakar, and use any extractor that is available to you (7-zip is a freeware you can download from the internet).

Hi all,

I need help in performing dynamic simulation of steam network of  a refinery with its Captive power plant in HySys like how to incorporate GTs-HRSGs & Aux-boilers in HySys, etc.
