Which more corrosive between Aluminimum sulfate solution and Caustic soda?

Hi Fahrudin,

As I know, Alumunium Sulfate is having less pH than Caustic Soda so for corrosion rate I think Aluminium Sulfate will have more corrosion than Caustic Soda. Since I also remember that one of the method to reduce the corrosion rate is to increase the pH.

This depends entirely on the strength of each solution and the material it comes in contact with.
What is the concentration of each solution?
Where are you planning to use it?

The other thing to note is that aluminium sulfate becomes sulfuric acid, with a pH below neutral, so it will corrode materials that are not acid resistant. Caustic soda becomes sodium hydroxide solution, which is a base, and corrodes materials that are not base resistant.
