Hello Everyone,

I am trying to design a firetube reboiler for dehydration process.

Maximum value of flux supplied is 15.68 kW/m2 (4970.533 Btu/ft^2.hr)

Fouling factor specified is 0.0023 h.ft^2.F/Btu.

Based on duty and heat flux I calculated the heat transfer area required. and based on that I calculated fire tubes dimensions.

I am not sure if it is the right method to use as it did not include fouling factor in calculations.

Can u suggest me any good references in this field.

Thanks

Abhishek

Abhishek:

If you have no experience in process designing and specifying the dimensions of a direct-fired reboiler, then I would recommend you not try that. There is more to a fire tube than just the total heat transfer area. You have not even discussed the radiant section, the type and size of burner, the dimensions inside the firebox and the design to avoid any flame impingement on the fire tube.

Unless you are in a remote area and have no resources or means of obtaining a guaranteed, tested and dependable design and fabrication, I would not do it myself.

Thanks for the reply.

I have no experience in this area. I am just curious and I want to learn how to design these type of exchangers. Can u suggest me good books where I can find related information. I have only read GPSA handbook.

Thanks

Abhishek
