Hi,

I am wondering of the industrial practice on this situation.

The oxidation of p-xylene required reactant(p-xylene and gas) and solvent(acetic acid), all that will go into the reactor, THe reaction is highly exothermic and take place in liquid form, isothermal CSTR is being used..Air is inject into the reactor column and the condition for the reaction is 170 degree celcius and 5 bar pressure.

Do i need to heat up all the inlet feed into the reactor as the operating temperature in the reactor? SInce the reaction is exothermic, can i just heat up the reactant until like...160 degree celcius and feed into the reactor? what is the industrial practice for this situation? and do i need to heat up the gas stream as well? the excess heat of the reaction will remove by the evaporation of solvent.

thanks. do let me know if any extra information is required
