Dear Cheresources Members,
Im working at sulphur Degassing Unit design and I have doubts related to necessity of flame arrester erection at Vent Gas line.

This Vent Gas stream (mostly air with about 1400ppmvol content of H2S) will be routed from Degassing Vessel to incinerators. Is it needed to built flame arrestor at this line? For explanation: pressure in Degassing Vessel will be 2-3 kPaG, when incinerators works at slighty vacuum.

Any help will be appreciated

My common sense is telling me that it would be very much desirable to have a device to prevent backfire into an extremely Oxygen-rich environment, containing combustible component(s).

In any case, check the NFPA 69 "Standard on Explosion Prevention Systems" pages 63-67, it is also available at: http://www.iepi.com....ion Systems.pdf
