Dear all,

I have a question relative to petroleum product quotations (market price) that are reported daily by agencies, such as Platt's.

Those quotations have references like:

- U.S. Gulf Coast Waterborne - Unleaded 87 - d:0.742 or Rotterdam Barges FOB - Premium Unleaded 10 PPM (for gasoline)

- U.S. Gulf Coast Waterborne - Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel or NWE Cargoes CIF - Diesel 10 PPM - Basis Le Havre (for diesel)

It seems that each quotation reference is related to a given product quality, in a given geographical area (US Gulf Coast or North West Europe for example).

My question is: Do you know where I can find data sheets (with main characteristics) for the product referenced in quotations?

Thanks

It seems difficult to find such clarifications in public domain; one informative announcement (hardly useful) of Platts Oilgram is http://www.platts.co...Details/6446161. Subscriber notes can be found in http://www.platts.com/SubscriberNotes, rather correcting publish data or announcing changes.

So one has to use guessing for a possible interpretation, which may not be certain. For instance:
- U.S. Gulf Coast Waterborne - Unleaded 87 - d:0.742 or Rotterdam Barges FOB - Premium Unleaded 10 PPM (for gasoline)
Gasoline, delivered on floating vessel (difference from FOB?), at US Gulf coast, unleaded, Motor Octane Number MON = 87, specific gravity = 0.742;
or Gasoline, Free on Barge, at Rotterdam, Premium Quality (ie not Super), unleaded, 10 ppm sulphur.
- U.S. Gulf Coast Waterborne - Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel or NWE Cargoes CIF - Diesel 10 PPM - Basis Le Havre (for diesel)
Diesel,delivered on floating vessel (difference from FOB?), at US Gulf coast,ultra low sulphur;
or Diesel, 10 ppm sulphur, starting from Le Havre, CIF price NW Europe, transported through cargoes.

We can suppose that every offered fuel fulfills local specifications, published in Governmental Gazettes, e.g. flash point of Diesel = 55 oC (min) for European Union. And the announcement concerns only special characteristics of the fuel. This can be an interpretation why so little data is given.
