How do engineers measure the weight/level/volume in the catalyst hopper for the fresh and/or spent hopper?

We currently measure the outage of the hopper and then go to a table and get the weight of catalyst in the hopper. I would like to be able to automate this and was wondering what everyone else is doing. Is anyone measuring what they have in a hopper and how?

You need to tell us whether your catalyst is a liquid or a solid and how much you want to transfer.

Hope this helps

The catalyst is a fine powder. Typically about 70 microns in size (typical for a Cat Cracker) and we want to transfer about 1-1/2 tons per day of the catalyst in to the system. It is currently being added by an automatic loader, but we have recently lost faith in the loader to measure how much is being loaded into the system.

Hi ,
Currently I'm using a dosage system which includes a hopper on load cells and a screw feeder , all these equipment fully automated were bought from Gerike and work fine .

You may find simular equipment from Mettler Toledo.

Hope this helps
