hi every1,

if we are adding 200 liters of water after every 8 hours in a system to generate steam in a reboiler, then how much steam will be produced by adding this amount of water.....any1 has idea for steam calculation...the reboiler temperature is 240F...

You should learn to use steam tables. Find the properties of saturated 240 F steam form the link below:

http://www.spiraxsar...rated-steam.asp

you can calculate the volume of the produced steam using Specific Volume of Steam (vg).

The steam is saturated, so only one pressure point corresponds to 240 F. Change the input drop down menu to saturation temperature and there you go.

1. Do a mass balance assuming constant liquid level in the reboiler
2. Assuming the water density is 1 kg/l, and no blowdown then 200 liter is equivalent to?
3. Take the average over the period of 8 hours
4. What will be the answer?
5. The answer will be the average steam production rate

Hi Morvenligth

You have to review your similar post in Refining, Hydrocarbons Oil & Gas, because you speak about MDEA regeneration and that is the clue for this problem.

If you are adding 200 litres/every 8 hours & if the liquid level in the reboiler does not change, then you have produced 200 kgs steam in 8 hours.
