Pavan,

Process design engineering is a very promising field. In India there are many engineering design consulting companies active in providing engineering design services to the chemical process industry. Chemical process industry generally includes oil and gas, petroleum refining, petrochemicals, fine chemicals, bulk drugs, water and air treatment, power generation etc.

Some of the very prominent and interantionally recognized engineering consulting companies active in India are:

1. Fluor Daniel

2. Foster Wheeler

3. Bechtel

4. Worley Parsons

5. Technip

6. Toyo Engineering

7. Jacobs Engineering

8. Uhde India

9. L&T-Chiyoda

10. Aker Solutions

11. Technimont-ICB

12. Chemtex Global

13. SNC Lavalin

14. Engineers India Limited

These companies provide job opportunities to Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) in all fields including Chemical, Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical, Civil, HSE where the fresh engineer actually learns to design chemical process equipment and generate engineering documents required to construct, commission and operate chemical process plants.

Once you have completed your course you may start looking for opportunities available to fresh engineers in the above mentioned companies. The most important thing to note especially for a young engineer is that there are no short-cuts to success and advancement in career. You have to go through the hard grind to achieve success. Put another way, go beyond the call of duty to acheive something.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Ankur.
