Hello Friends,
I am new to this forum and hope to have your worthy replies and experinece being shared.
In our LPG production plant, the crude sold has 9% impurity in the form of light naphtha.I collected samples from De-propanizer bottom after a chiller at 80F and 35psig. The laboratory tests are Sp gravity= 0.67 at 60F, RVP= 12 @ 100F and API at 60/60= 79.7. I named it LSRN (light straight run naphtha).
My questions is : can i directly store LSRN in a storage bullet like LPG storage bullets with out flashing the crude and giving the PSV an option to flare the light ends if collected.
Is it safe to be directly stored or flash separator is required to separate the light ends.

Appreciate your prompt responses

Thanks and regards,
Jady

Jady,
The description of your problem is unclear to me.
First you have light naphta in crude (by the way, crude oil in a LPG plant?)...
Then you have light naphta in the bottom of depropanizer (ie butane stream?)...
Could you please re-phrase or clarify your problem because it doesn't make sense to me.

Sheiko,
Really thanx for your interest.
Infact in LPG plant, there is a de ethanizer and de propanizer. bottoms of de ethanizer are forwarded to de propanizer and from top of de propanizer , LPG is stored. LPG is 40 percent butane and sixty percent propane, From bottom of de propanizer, heavy crudes are forwarded to crude oil stabilizer. crude from de propanizer bottom is infact straight naphtha. Hope its clear.

OK it's clearer.
I believe what you call de-ethanizer is usually called "absorber" in gas plants, and what you call depropanizer is in fact a debutanizer. The bottom of the debutanizer is indeed a naphta range liquid (heptane or octane?), that was laden with propane and butane after leaving the absorber and before entering the debutanizer.

Having said that, I have not helped you much wrt your query. I believe the best to do is to ask your process department or technical service to check the faisability of what you're planning to do.

Dear Jady

If you want to store LSRN in LPG like vessel.. The answer is a definite YES. It is more difficult to answer if you ask..can we store the LSRN with RVP of 12 psig in a floating roof tank?
