Dear All.

I see in my plant some PSV vent is plug but another is vent.
What is the main consideration about this matter?

is there all conventional is design to be plugged
while Balance bellow is unplugged

Thank you for sharing

fahrudin,

It depends on the PSV type as follows:

Conventional PSV is closed bonnet that has the bonnet vented to the discharge side of the valve and hence is unbalanced type.

Ballance bellows type PSV is bonnet ventd to the atmosphere (or safe location in the case of hazard) to provide a ballanced situation across the disk.
