Good morning all
Just wanted some thoughts on this:
What would it take to convert a conventional LNg regasifiation terminal to an export facility (that is just re-loading the LNG onto another vessel for export; not liquefaction). Any ideas on how much the conversion is required here?

Thanks!

Ogeds:

The major equipment facilities you basically are starting with are:
  • A seaport and its facitilies;
  • Unloading lines;
  • LNG metering facilities;
  • Storage tanks;
  • LNG pumps feeding vaporizers;
  • LNG Vaporizers;
  • Seawater pumping facilities (depending on the type of vaporization used);
  • Gas metering facilities;
  • Sales gas pipeline for transfer to transport pipelines.
The major equipment you can possibly convert for use in an exporting LNG plant are:
  • A seaport and its facitilies;
  • Unloading lines (converted to shipping lines);
  • LNG metering facilities;
  • Storage tanks;
  • LNG pumps (for use in transferring LNG between tanks and for export (these may not have enough capacity);
  • Gas metering facilities;
  • The Sales gas pipeline (converted reception of natural gas feed).
Bear in mind that the above analyses doesn’t take any design consideration related to the liquefaction process you select or the heat and mass balance resulting from the basic LNG capacity and feed gas analysis. This is just a quick, qualitative analyses and nothing more beyond that in accuracy.
