I am doing my final project (plant design for producing glycerine). I have done all the material & energy balances and have design all equipment. However, I am stuck in estimating cost of equipment like heat exchangers, condensors, distillation column..etc.
Could someone please help me in finding equipment cost index for 2012?

Hey mate i'm not really sure off-hand but 'Coulson and Richardson engineering volume 6' might have some information. This book is the holy grail of designing plant equipment.

sorry i am not of much help but i am on the same boat as you right now (have a final project) and i was just wondering if you know anything on vapour pressures? i need them to design my distillation column. I made a post shortly after this one called 'vapour pressures'. sorry to do this but i am pressed for time and need help haha.

Thanks regardless and good luck with your search brother!

Thanks Alex, i will refer to the book. The vapor pressure u mentioned i think u also can refer to the C & R Chemical engineering V 6 because my groupmates was referring this book when doing the design of the distillation column. sorry to say i not really read through the calculation( including the vapour pressure part) of distillation column which my fren do, so i think i wont be able to help u.

icingrock, thanks for the link u share, but in fact i need the cost index to do the correlation/ equation calculation to do the cost estimation. anyway, thanks again ur kindness.

You can find CEPCI (Nov 2011) on the back of the Magazine "Chemical Engineering". I have the soft copy but how to attach here, can't find.

Alex:

You can obtain vapour pressures from Yaw's handbook from Knovel.com

Thanks rosneft. Believe it or not my components aren't even in that massive list! A great effort though and thank you very much :)

Alex:

They did not specify to me step by step in packed column design. sigh none of the texbook explained step by step with a sample calculation so frustrating to design packed tower.

Thanks very much! Would you also happen to know the inorganic chemical and labour index factors as well?

For chemicals , it depends very much of the market and the demand . For labour it depends much more on the economy of the countries .

You can try the IC Index. It has current and forecast values:

Hey!

I'm searching for the CEPCI (for January, February oder March 2013) in the printed version of the Chemical Engineering Journal. But unfortunately I'm not able to find it.. I've read that it's at the back, but it isn't. Where should I look for it?

Thanks & regards!

@Breizh: CEPCI of 572,7 (post #17) is for which month?
