Hi Teck,

First of all, change in pressure does affect the sizing of tray/packing due to change in fluid properties. I have reviewed numerous quotes from trays/packing vendors including the most renowned Koch Glitsch and Sulzer. I am confident that these vendors make use of the properties provided by you for sizing purpose. I have also used propriety vendors' softwares. These softwares require bottom pressure input only to report top pressure by subtracting pressure drop. Therefore, the pressure input in these softwares has no effect on sizing. Bottom line is that you should assess the change in properties of the fluid due to change in pressure. You can use the simple procedures described in literature (e.g. Souder Brown's equation with appropriate K-Factor from vendor's brochure) in order to determine the extent of change in sizing. So just match the properties with the vendor's brochure. Even if the vendor has used different pressure and your properties are good, nothing is going to change.
