Hello,

This is my first post here in cheresources.com

I have a question regarding effects of varying flow rate on overall heat transfer coefficient - U.

Here are the 4 cases that I am looking into. 1) Parallel flow, fix hot, vary cold. 2) Parallel, fix cold, vary hot. 3) Counter, fix hot, vary cold. 4) Counter, fix cold, vary hot.

Theoritically, and throught experiment I found out that increasing 4 flow rates, U increases concurrently.

However, I am having some problem explaining the theoritical explanation behind it.

I am loooking to fixed my conduction, and vary my convection. And I know that Nu number is a ratio of convection to conduction. And what affect convection is the boundary layer, then I also understand that it is turbulence or laminar flow that affects my boundary layer.

How is this going to affect my Re number and Pr number?

Also, bringing it back to my first question. How does varying flow rate affects my U, theoritically.

Best and Kind Regards

Goh
