Dear All,

As you know, Hydrodesulfurization is mainly done in a trickle bed reactor (fixed bed reactor with concurrent,downward flow of gas and liquid through the catalyst bed) in the industry.

Hydrodesulfurization of fuel oil ( an oil cut which is heavier that vacuum gas oil (VGO)) is done at pressures 80-120 bar and temperatures 380-450 degrees centigrade.

Unfortunately I don't have a tricke bed reactor for catalyst testing at above temperature and pressure. So I want to use slurry reactor at definite pressure, temperature and space velocity for Hydrodesulfurization.

I want to do hydrodesulfurization experiments in a slurry reactor and scaling up the slurry reactor to an industrial fixed bed reactor,?


Are there any calculations or rules of thumb or correlations about doing experiments in a slurry reactor and scaling up the slurry reactor to an industrial fixed bed reactor?

For example the reaction is done at 100 bar , 400 degree centigrade and LHSV=1 hr-1.
Are there any calculations or rules of thumb that at what conditions the reaction should be done in a fixed bed reactor?
