Hello everyone,

I am looking for wisdom and suggestions on a process to remove chlorides from hydrofluoric acid.

We have an incinerator effluent that comprisses of a dilute aqueous hydrofluoric acid with some hydrochloric acid (1-5% by mass HCl/HF). Currently, the stream is neutralized and with lime, dewatered and landfilled. However, we would really like to be able to recapture our fluorine and reintroduce it to the process as potassium fluoride. We developed a similar process for another thermal oxidizer's effluent to make spray dryed potassium fluoride which is working well. However, in this case the chloride contamination is a quality concern and we can not simply neutralize and spray dry.

Does anyone have experience with or know of a process to economicly seperate aqueous solutions of HF and HCl?
