Hi,
I need to know what information/ tools are required to conduct a hydraulic transient analysis in order to determine if the pipeline is protected from pressure surge resulting from quick closing of shutdown valves? Any guidance in this direction is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
- Fluid state and properties,
- Modulus of Elasticity of the pipeline material,
- Fluid velocity in the pipeline,
- Valve stroke time,
- Pipeline design pressure,
- And so on...

- Google 'Wanda' software which deals with your query.

I think a good dynamic simulator can handle your issue since this is a transient process and dynamic simulation is suited for this matter.
Of course, this does not preclude having a good engineering judgment when dealing with your study.

I presume that it is a liquid pipeline. Then consult an expert. Don't try to do it yourself.
