hi

I'm a student investigating the various methods to apply glass coatings on the outside of bare metal tubes (majorly carbon steel) to prevent corrosion due to sulfuric acid condensation. The thickness i'm looking forward to is about a few hundred microns.

I would like to know what all methods can be used to coat the tubes with glass for this thickness, their cost effectiveness, and also if there are any good alternatives to the methodology i'm trying to pursue.

Thank you in advance

Hello Kushal,

I'm by no means an expert, just putting in my two cents.

A few years ago I did a project regarding OLEDs where we needed to achieve a layer of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) on a layer of glass, the process is quite similar for what you could use;

Also a similar process is : http://en.wikipedia....apor_deposition

Which is used to apply gold coatings to materials which are not conductive, for use with SEM.

Problem is that you need a vacuum enviroment to ensure the substrate on your product is the desired one.
