Hi,

I am starting a project that entails thermodynamic modeling and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a programming language to me.

I am currently considering C#, all the previous work was carried out in Delphi and Fortran.

I am also considering using SAFT and/or CPA.

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks

it depends from the project you wish to complete,
if you plan to write yourself all the code (including the methods to calculate volumes, fugacities with CPA / SAFT etc.) then Fortran or C could be a good option (that also depends from the possibility to find the sources at your University),
however that is not easy,
I prefer a different solution, I use a process library (Prode) which integrates directly in Excel and Matlab,
this gives me the possibility to access many different models, operating units etc. without investing time in writing the code, tests etc..
nowadays almost all simulators expose an interface with Excel , Matlab or other tools, it is a possibility to consider.

Thank you for the reply.

I am looking to fintune/modify the EOS based on my experimental results so i will require complete flexibility, so I think Programming would be a better option but I will look at Prode.
