Friends,

Does anyone have any suggestions or rules-of-thumb from their experience when sizing restriction orifices in compressible flow?

I need to place an RO in a nitrogen inerting line to a tank in the event a regulator fails. Would be happy to provide more data and details if desired.

Many thanks in advance!

Chemmer ,
Several possibilities :
search button (top right ) , Perry's chemical handbook or Crane TP 410M flow of fluids trough valves, fittings and pipe

Note : additional resource : http://www.pipeflowc...ns.com/orifice/

Hope this helps

Scotti,
Try the program at checalc.com. If you unscramble the javascript you can see all of the calculations. Maybe chemmer will collaborate with you. You should be able to get the file here: http://www.mediafire...1vw48mq5y4nkrmi

Dear Bobby,

Can you email me the software at junaid_shaikh8@hotmail.com. The mediafile link you provided does not contain the file anymore.

Some of us can remember doing this sort of calculation before spreadsheets were invented - indeed, before calculators were invented. I still have my slide rule.

I  wonder if some of the younger engineers posting on this forum can possibly imagine how to do engineering if they are not given a little excel sheet with boxes to enter numbers into. Even then, it's a struggle to get the units right.

Even finding the relevant equation is much easier today than when you had to have an actual textbook in your hand, but that's still not enough for some would-be engineers.

This application is a good one for those interested to compare each of these peograms; spreadsheeting vs compiled code. Maybe you will have some comments.

I just downloaded it and it worked fine for me (Windows 7). Maybe you have some security program that causes the behaviour that you observed.
