Why do you suspect that it cannot be used?

m.r.rahimzadeh:

Of course a plunger pump can be used for circulating amine solution in a gas sweetening process - especially if the amine absorber is operating at relatively high pressures.

However, since the maximum capacities for such pumps are relatively small as compared to centrifugal units, you will find that such pumps have difficulty meeting the capacity specifications for most industrial-sized gas sweetening operations.

I've been forced to use reciprocating pumps only in the smallest amine unit I've designed.
In that case the amine circulation was around 1.5 t/h.
The unit has been built-up but not yet started-up.
