Hi Everyone

I have recently joined a company and started working on a few projects. One of the Projects that I am working on is related to NH3. I wanted to make an estimate whether the existing scrubber on plant is able to scrub NH3 that will be entering the tower. See attachement, the Process conditions are as follwoings

Gas Stream
Temp = 15 to 20oC
Air Flow in Scrubber = 700 Kg/hr
Ammonia Gas flow rate= 7.81 Kg/hr
Water Vapours = 83 Kg/hr

Scrubbing Medium
HCl 32% flow in = 52.42 Kg/hr
Fresh Water = 26.04KG/hr

The scrubber is Packed Tower(vertical turbofill tower, capacity 3141m3/hr) with Poly Propylene rings, -120mbar suction maintained through a Induced draft fan.

Dimensions are
Tower 500mm dia Height 3475mm
Tank 800mm dia Height 2050mm

The scrubber was actually designed to scrub HCl fumes for a air stream. the vent point is open to atmosphere.Attached File  CHEresources.xls   82KB   70 downloads
