Dear all,

I was assigned to find the S.G (density) of a 36%wt HCl solutions at temperatures ranging from 20C to 100C. I looked online
and on this forum but could not find the required data. Handymath and Solvay have the exact same data. i looked in perry's 8th edition i could find only one point that meets the requirement (36%wt & 20C). see attached. I was wondering if any of you have such data or know where to find them. wherever i looked they reference Perry's.

Lacking other information I would assume the density follows the same curve as water, offset by the offset at 20C. This assumes you can maintain the 36wt% composition at the elevated temperatures.

yes the concentration remains constant at 36%wt HCl while the temperature is varying from 20C to 100C we want to determine the S.G. I need a table will real data. I did a regression and came up with an equation that could allow me to determine S.G at different temperature but my boss want true data from different sources the problem is that i can't find any other source but the ones i mentioned in the previous thread.

It is difficult to maintain concentration as vapor pressure of HCL gas above solution increases with the temperature which reduces concentration of liquid.

Alan,

You may have to do an experiment, and measure the density yourself at three temperatures. Then you'll know if your correlation is sufficiently accurate.
