I don’t know how you can call this an interesting post when you don’t even understand what is says. I’ll proceed to translate it and respond to Paola in Spanish out of courtesy to her, in case she doesn’t understand English. But I’m doing this as an exception to the general rule: I normally only respond in English within these forums because they are English-based and we can’t expect all engineers to be multi-lingual. Anyone else is free to respond in English. The translation from Spanish (with grammatical errors and typos eliminated) is as follows:

“I’m analyzing a packed tower used to cool a foundry gas. Sulfuric Acid is used to cool the gas counter-currently. My question is related to the packing properties: Is it possible to increase the yield in a considerable way by changing the “Tri-Pack” packing with plastic saddles? Doy respuesta a tu pregunta en castellano como cortesía en caso que no puedes entender ingles. Lamento que si esto es el caso, vas a tener dificultades en tratar de leer los “websites” que te voy a recomendar. Básicamente te puedo indicar que no vayas a esperar una tremenda diferencia en el rendimiento conseguido por aquellos empaques que se consideran como los más eficientes. Supongo que el empaque que estas considerando cambiar es uno de los fabricados por Jaeger – el Tri-Pack. Hay otro empaque plástico llamado “tri-pac” – el cual encontraras en la siguiente lista de websites que te recomiendo que visites:

No se que le habrá pasado al diseño de U.S. Stoneware que la compañía Saint-Gobain compro hace unos anos atrás. Es posible que simplemente desaparecieron del mercado; y esto es lamentable porque ellos comenzaron la tecnología de torres empacadas.

Mucho te recomiendo que le des importancia al website de katmar (el ultimo en la lista). Allí puedes conseguir una copia gratuita de su programa de diseño que es formidable. Además también puedes gozar de una lista completa de todos los empaques empleados en el programa – conjuntamente con sus propiedades y descripciones. Claro que supongo que tu podrás leer y entender el contenido que se encuentra en ingles. A lo contrario, va ser difícil que consigas las informaciones que buscas. Muy buena suerte en tu esfuerzo y que todo te vaya bien en tu búsqueda.
