Looking for an alternate "water conditioning" system. Does anyone have experience or articles that can support the claims of magnetic and electrical conditioners (e.g. superiorwater, scale buster, trentatronics, etc.)? I am a mechanical engieer and deal with hard water and very poor water conditioning from my clients.

There are anti-scalents available that increase the solubility of certain solids i.e. Calcium Carbonate, Magnesium Carbonate, Calcium Sulphate etc.

An "alternate water conditioning system" could be an ion exchange resin bed which switches scaling ions (Ca, Mg) for harmless ones (Na).

Thank you. All the systems I deal with have or should be using anti-scalents. As mentioned above, many of these systems have poor maintenance programs. Doing a project right now where the scale is so thick, we need to "core" out some pipes and replace other, along with appurtanences. I have found one article on alternative anti or de-scale methods from ASHRAE, but it was inconclussive ... at best. Being a Chem forum with lots of water treatment folks, I was hoping others have used these alternative methods with their "war stories".
