I want to use an existing bottom discharge type centrifuge( horizontal) for filtering a slurry containing 4% methanol. As the centrifuge is bottom discharge type , it sucks air from the bottom and discharges through the top.The feed to centrifuge is at 90 deg C.So i am afraid that the methanol vapor and air will form a mixture which will have concentration above LEL value of methanol.
To confirm this assumption I want to know the exact air flow through the centrifuge. Can anybody suggest theoretical calculation of air flow through bottom discharge centrifuge??
The details of centrifuge are as follows
Basket volume-140 liter
Motor-15 hp
Bottom duct- 8inch dia
Top vent- 2 inch dia
Basket- 36 inch dia
