hello all,

i am currently designing a flash drum to separate liquid ammonia from vapour. i have done the sizing for the flash drum, however, i am having trouble when doing the mechanical design since i am not sure of the operating temperature and pressure of the vessel.

the feed is at -54 celsius and 224 bar, the same goes for the liquid ammonia separated and the gases going to recycle and purge streams. hope there can be some help to enlighten me.

thank you.

You are confusing our members (and probably yourself) by posting in both the Professional and the Student Forums.  Which are you - a Student or a Professional?   In either case, please refer to my response to your query in the Professional Forum and act accordingly.  If you are a Student, you should post in the Student Forum - as instructed in our Forum guidelines.  Read the guidelines.

If you have truly done the flash tank sizing, then submit your calculations in a an organized, detailed, and orderly Excel workbook so that our members can review and comment.  If you don't do this, you are being very foolish and missing a great opportunity to have your calculations checked (which is a mandatory step in all professional engineering jobs) and proofed.

In the meantime, respond to this post as well as the one in the professional forum so that I can move one of these posts where it belongs.

I await your reply, so please respond quickly as a responsible Forum member should.
