Dear All,

I am trying to simulate an LNG exchanger (brazed aluminum heat exchanger type) in hysys dynamics. The steady state model is available and I am filling out the information needed to run in dynamic mode. For now I am doing a simple 2-stream counterflow configuration shown in the attachment.

My question is how do I model this equipment so that it will solve & run accurately in hysys dynamics? Hysys requires a bunch of information for dynamic mode such as zone geometry, layer properties, convective U, k values, etc. I am guessing (correct me if I'm wrong) that there are a few main parameters that strongly influence the model, and they can be used to tune the module, while the rest are not so impactful and can be left in default values. Could you please inform me what they are? Or do I need to input everything?

Lastly, what is the definition of "zone" and "set" used in hysys for LNG exchanger? I am not familiar with LNG exchanger and cannot find satisfactory description even after reviewing hysys manual & tutorials. The term used in my company is "core", which is the same as what is used in GPSA.

A somewhat similar question have been discussed in this forum 3+ years ago, but I did not find the answer there & could not reach the poster (email no longer valid).

Appreciate your help & advice. Thanks!

Sorry, I forgot to add that both streams are natural gas.

Check Aspen Tech support site. They should have some examples for you there.

you can get Geometry data by export LNG in EDR modeling, where you design it with all parameters and construction data. then simple go to design tab of LNG in HYSYS and change it from 'simple' to 'EDR' afterward EDR tab is Visible, simply import the file you save in EDR modeling.

The controlling of LNG can be of PID or DMC plus Controller link with valves.

Unfortunately, I do not own the video and I do not have a copy of it, therefore it is no longer watchable...
