Dear all,
I am working in petrochemical plant in operations department.I am new to this blog and found it extremely helpful.following are the details of problem I am facing.
I am running extraction column having 19 sieve trays, each tray having 384 holes having 5 mm dia.feed rate from top (ammonium sulphate ) is 21m3/hr with density of 1210 kg/m3.i am not able to put more than 6m3/hr bottom feed(cyclohexanone) because of slippage of anone from tower bottom. Required rate of bottom feed is7.2 m3/hr.
bottom sparger (2") has total 100 holes of 5 mm diameter ( 5 rows )
Top sparger (3") has total 100 holes of 7 mm diameter in ( 5 rows)
tower ID is 800 mm
downcomer area is 0.05 m2
Downcomer ht is 100 mm
dist. Betn two tray is 200 mm.

can anyone guide me about reason for limitations.I had posted this problem in separation tech.forum but didnot get any comment.hope to find any help here
