We now have such a problem on our drying process.our feed is something like a kind of fiber with a wet conc.55% and there is about 30% ethanol in the total feed . The output of this kind of fiber 450kg per hour and with the wet conc. 15% (only water).we now use the rotary vacuum dryer (batch dryer),we want to improve the batch dryer to continuous dryer which in turn improve the efficiency. can anyone offer me some advices on the drying process? and which kind of equipment we can turn to since we have to recycle the ethanol in the venting output.
any comment will be appreciated!

Handling combustible vapors may limit the area of selection from various types of dryers. Batch-type dryers would be selected especially for solvent recovery purposes. For continuous dryers such as fludized bed, rotary drum, double rotary drum, belt, flash, etc. sealing from atmospheric air requires additional devices around the dryer or inert gas like nitrogen should be employed with wet gas recycle system, which makes the system quite complicated.

Fibrous material to be dried may also make various troubles for continuous dryers. Rotary vacuum dryer in which no moving parts are there inside of the chamber would be a best choice. Should you ever use any of continuous type dryer you must first replace the ethanol to water in the fiber before drying.

Thanks very much (sgkim)

we now turn to a kind of dryer called steam tube dryer but its shell is stable and its tube is rolling.so we can make it on continuous production of the feed stock (kind of fiber) .we use special device for the inlet and the outlet design since we have to make the vacuum condition in the shell of the tube dryer. but one thing we still concern about is how we do with the cooling system of the ethanol vapor from the dryer? shall we use the common condenser and the centrifugal fan at the same time? that is really a problem, anyone can offer me some advice on it ?
will be glad to know more about the process ideas!
